County Councillor for Dorking Rural
Vice Chairman of Adults and Health Select Committee
I have been the County Councillor for Dorking Rural for the last twelve years, live in Charlwood with my husband Bryan and brought up my family here. Over the last four years I have:
- Worked with local people and MPs to continue the campaign against a second runway at Gatwick
- Worked with Parish Councils to give local villages more say on County services including, speed reduction, highways maintenance, clearing local vegetation, youth services
- Campaigned against unsustainable and unsuitable developments such as mineral extraction, fracking and housing development on flood areas
-
Campaigned against inappropriate licencing applications
-
Championed our rural schools to remain viable and of high standards
I passionately believe in supporting and standing up for our rural local communities, if I am re-elected in May in the next four years I pledge to continue to:
- Focus on reducing the speed of traffic passing through our narrow countryside lanes
- Maintain our local road network and protect local bus services
- Help our local community facilities to thrive – our schools, playgrounds and village halls
- Work to Support our local shops and other rural businesses
- Introduce ‘micro’ libraries and more localised services
