Surrey Fire and Rescue Service has been recognised for the considerable work it has carried out to address a ‘Cause of Concern’ raised following an inspection in Spring of 2023.
During a revisit in February 2024, His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) found progress towards the recommendations to address the Cause of Concern. The Cause of Concern was in relation to the service’s assurance of its Risk-Based Inspection Programme’s effectiveness in prioritising high-risk premises.
Roy Wilsher OBE, His Majesty’s Inspector of Fire & Rescue Services said the inspection team was pleased to see the significant steps the service had taken in response to the cause of concern.
“We found complete commitment from the service to address the recommendations,” he said in a letter following the visit. “We recognise the considerable work that has been carried out to support these improvements. As a result, we now consider this cause of concern to be discharged.”
Chief Fire Officer of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Dan Quin said: “We are delighted with the positive outcome of the inspection revisit. While the Cause of Concern is now closed, we will continue to strive towards the highest standards of our service. We have a robust Inspection Improvement Plan in place that is helping us address all the recommendations that were shared with us as part of the inspection report last year.”
“I would like to thank all our colleagues for their commitment to our ongoing improvement.”
